The 928 seems to hold up well, but I was also wondering if these nasty crashes are due to really high speeds, or just poor vehicle design. There is always a compromise when you are attempting to make a car light and fast. You have more strength in a larger, stronger car. Thus the popularity of SUVs. If weren't for the rollover issue... The 928 is heavy, strong, and fast... I wonder if the Corvette and Viper sacrificed some frame and body strength, in an attempt to win the speed wars. Saying how strong a sports car is, does not sell. How fast it is, compared to the competition is what sells. Safety sells when you are selling a sedan or SUV. I think it's kind of nice that the 928 has a little of both...

Anthony you get many inexperienced drivers in cars which go fast and bad things can happen. By inexperienced I mean people who may have been driving average cars at average speeds for 10-15-20 years or more and think they know how to drive. 120 mph is just like 60 but takes a little longer to get there ...yea right . You also get the passengers asking "is this car really fast"typically answered by a large application of right foot ! The look on many new drivers education students at the track is priceless when they realize how much better the cars are than they are.

[QUOTE=mpesik]Hello Bill Coleman.
If you look under the rear bumper the factory actually put in 6 or 7 aerodynamic fences right before where the rear bumper starts. I imagine to add some directional stability at speed!
Does it actually work-I don't know, Anyone?
Anyone????

And looking at it most people would think of it as...I haven't gotten a friggen clue! You know they're quite strong. They're is almost no flex at all!

Ok... I did some research:
> The new car's aerodynamics are also better than the previous car,
> led by a partial undertray engineered to increase downforce at high speed.
>Wind-tunnel tuned rear wing, front splitter and rear diffuser, partial undertray...
Considering that the Viper race teams have been developing undertrays and diffusers
for their race Vipers, the factory probably just copied a portion of the tray from the
race teams, and added some of those aerodynamic improvements to their new model street car...

Thanks bcdavis.
Do you know if they mention this select feature in their brochures?
I also have to comment about the brakes. They looked undersized for the opening /size of the mag. Yes they are RED but look a tad wimpy. I imagine they do the job but, why not waste money and forget about the 'fences' and make those brakes look like a small meatloaf rather than a hotdog bun?

The fenders of the new Corvette reminds me of the C2 and C3. They curve into the doors.

A couple of my friends have Vipers, and both have gotten brake upgrades.
So apparently they were not good enough from the factory to leave well enough alone...

Much better than the original, but still looks like a cartoon caricature of a car. And, of course, you have to unbotton your shirt to the navel and put on a bunch of gold chains just to stand near one. Tacky, tacky, tacky. IMHO.

The Fella'Mark' told me he was a trucker. I wouldn't be so ignorant as to ask. What I did want to ask is how many miles does one have to drive in order to afford a $130000 car. And here I thought the moon program was over in the 70's. Silly Me!

I worked with a guy here in L.A. that delivers Mercedes to dealers. He gets 500.00 a car and his truck holds three at a time. Easily capable of two trips a day. He said there were more cars than he could keep up with. You do the math!! You just need the connnections.
