Default Am I missing spare tyre locking hook?

Can anyone confirm if my '88 S4 should have a spare tyre locking hook (like it needs it!)? When I lift out the compressor I see the threaded area to accept some sort of fixing and parts fiche shows something, but not too clear.

Ta very much

Yes - Its a round plate with a lip to fit the wheel center & a slot for a bolt w/ washer that screws into the threaded part @ the bottom. Seems like some carless PO didn't think it was that important either....

Take it out and put in a repair kit. Not a "fix-a-flat", but a real repair kit. Keep the pump so you can fill your repair and use the area for things like oil, A/T fluid (for PS too), jack, spare belts, etc. Great for being able to carry those things and not have them floating around the hatch.

Keep the spare and put it in for long trips. You'll be burning alot more oil than fixing flats.

If you are not purist about it, the top of a large can of Double Diamond Dark or a similar brew should do. Enjoy the brew, carve the top off and drop a M10 bolt through the off set hole .... courtesy of Shade(y) Tree Engineering Inc.
