Do all 87's rear spoilers fold forward? And if so, is there a release or trick to making it happen? Mine acts like it wants to, but it just won't release. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

evening Garret,
What's the VIN on your shark? Mine is 0203, and I have the folding spoiler. You can see the hinge, if your shark has it. And the "catch" is a detent-like item.

Couldn't stand it. Had to go out and give it a try. It is a folding wing. 0378 are my last four. Got it folded up just as its supposed to work. Thanks again guys.

AFAIK early '88 model year cars have folding wing. Latest VIN no idea other than probably both ROW and US production lose it at same time. This would mean different last four digits on VIN for different markets.

We debated this point before - you'll probably find the thread if you search the archives.
I've got #142 - one of the earliest '87s around and THE earliest I know of with a manual transmission. When I got the car the wing was stuck. I had to remove the wing it and clean the hinges before I could get it to fold.
At one of our gatherings a couple summers ago we confirmed that early S4s also have a slightly different intake manifold. Anyone know anything about that?

Okay....Squirter? New one on me. Also, what is ROW? Everytime I think I have all the terms and acronyms down pat, I get humbled again. Help me out here guys. Additionally, is it being a "squirter" really going to make it more valuable? This is the one that I have for sale.

You have oil spayers/squirters that constantly bathe the bottom of your pistons with oil to help cool them. It could be a very desirable feature if you ever wanted to join the boostard club. In theory it should help keep internal operating temperatures lower, hence reduing the chance of pre-ignition. I think that porsche stopped installing them because they feared a windage/oil floam issue.

Thanks Hans. I sure do hate to part with her, but my 89' had the engine removed and every belt, hose, seal and gasket replaced along with balancing and printing the injectors about a year before I bought her. Also, 17" Cup IIs installed. Even though the mileage is higher(135000) than the 87'(90000), I think the 89' is the one to hang on to. The 87' sure runs strong though.
