Forgot about the non bumperettes on Euro cars. Post the VIN to the list here and someone, or everyone can decode it. On the floor of the hatch area under the carpet is a list of options for the car, check it out and get us those numbers so we can decode it for you.

Checking the engine number is easy, go ahead and search for the procedure.
Btw, the interior sure looks alternative..

For the rear end of the car, there are imho another possibily. The fact is that 928 rear end are submit to deformation. Then it make it unproper. The second fact is that Porsche doesnot sale other rear end than the GTS one. It would be the case of that car. Still, th efront end of the car is "bizarre" with black light or even without!

Andrew,
The ad says produced in 1987 - so it is a '87 or '88: the VIN will confirm ( right fender near the coolant resevoir). The single tip muffler is common to both '87 and '88 5-sp cars. The GT did not appear until '89, and has the twin tip muffler..
WP0ZZZ92ZJS84xxxx is for a '88 euro - replace the 'J' with 'H' for '87, or with'K' for '90.
No sunroof is common on euros - as on my '88 S4. The engine code is visible on the top rail, front of engine near the right head ( passenger side, LHD): it will read M28/4x xxx xxxxx.
BTW, my '88 euro also has the GTS rear - and was done for cosmetic reasons by the PO AFAIK
Report the M28 and VIN codes if possible.

I didn't see the link to the first car until now, is it correct that it was owned byt the Polish Porsche club president? Kind of looks like that in the text but I don't know polish. Give him a call and ask.
It looks a lot like a GT that was out on mobile.de on an add a year ago with a replaced engine.

I wouldn't trust carfax too much anyways... my friend just bought a "pristine" '99 M3 from a dealer. Carfax was 100% clean. My friend got a small dent on the front/driver side corner and took it in for some work. The body shop (BMW certified) said that the car had been worked on before. There was a bunch of bondo on the hood, and some broken parts behind the front/driver fender.
When I crashed my car, I noticed red paint on some body parts... my car had a clean carfax as well.

Option code for GT is 639 but it's only used in '89 models. As all '90 and '91 5-speeds are GT's there were no need for separate code anymore.

to be sure that the car has no big crash you to bring it on an elevator and see the frame under it. You still have marks of repairif the car has been put on a marble.
If it has been a little crash with just rear and front end change and little body repair, then you have to chek the good quality of it.
