Default Fasten Seatbelt Light

Quick question: After you start the car with the driver's seatbelt fastened, should the red "fasten seatbelt" light in the center console go off or stay on all the time? Thanks.

That might be better than staying on. Mine might have a short.

Check your interior lights. A cracked light housing can short out against the metal frame of the car and fool the car into thinking that a door is open. I had a seat belt chime that rang for an entire 4 hour trip once. I was ready to drive off a cliff until I figured out the light between the sun visors had cracked.
