Default Fuel pump replacement options

I need to replace the fuel pump on an '82 US 5spd. The OEM Bosch units are of course quite reasonable from the big 3 ($230-$250). But at some point in the not too distant future I'd like to add some sort of forced induction and I'd like to have enough pump to meet my fuel requirements. Is the stock pump suitable for this? What if I need to crank up on the pressure to get enough fuel, will the Bosch pump keep up?

The current pump is a German Pierburg #7.21565.70.0, which seems to be clogged from sitting for 3+ years. I've tried to clean it out without any luck so I need a new pump. I'm tempted to replace it with the same pump since it (suposedly) ran well before it sat and I hear good things about them, but I can't seem to find a US source for them.

Then there's other aftermarkets:
-NAPA and Autozone have replacements which have lifetime warranties (could be nice).
-Summit and JEGS hve a bunch from Holley, MSD, etc. which have the same form factor and similar flow rates. I'm sure finding the right fittings might be a PITA, but they also have higher pressure/flow rate models too.

With a fuel pump it just needs to supply enough fuel at the pressure set by the regulator, right? If it suppies more fuel (within reason) it just diverts back to the tank, so it seem like there'd be a fair amount of latitude in what would work.

So lots of options, anyone BTDT?

Victor..
call Jeannie at 928Specialist.. she hooked me up with an aftermarket pump for one of my other pcars that works GREAT and was less expensive
fittings were almost an exact match and flow rate was comparable
