How hot should the front wheels get after a 2-3 mile 50-70 MPH run with moderate braking? Mine are uncomfortably hot to the touch, meaning the discs are even hotter. Did a brake job last year, new rotors, pad, rebuilt calipers, is there any way the pads are being shoved hard enough against the rotors with no pressure on the pedal? Residual pressure between the antilock brake unit and the calipers? Since it is an early 86, the single piston floating calipers should be self adjusting and self centering. Could I have done something to remove this ability such that there is more friction than normal? I know that the pads remain in contact with the rotors all the time. The car doesn't seem to drag, but it seems to be slower than other 86 928s autos. The back wheels spin easier than the front when lifted. Braking seems to be fine. Any ideas?

My front drivers side stuck and caused the front wheel to get so hot you couldnt touch it for about 15 minutes. Was a stuck piston in the caliper. Only happened on one side.

Pull the wheels and check the remaining meat on the pads. If one is wearing significantly faster than the other, at least one piston on the faster wearing side is hanging. It happens, even with "new" calipers......BTW, make sure the pads are not binding anywhere in the caliper frames.....that has happened to me (on other vehicles).
