It is a huge logistial task. The first 928 OCIC was in 2000, the second was in 2004. Marc White and several others put in countless hours (and personal funds) to make them happen. As far as I know, the next one will be when someone volunteers and organizes the event.

Hmmm... the KCWS is hosting our second annual Renntreffen at the Lake of the Ozarks in September 23-25 this year, we could try to tie the two events together, if there was some interest in us doing so. We could easily accomodate a bunch of 928's into the gathering, altho I am not sure we'd try to pull off a DE or Convention Center display like the '04 gathering.
Any comments?

I recognize the enormous efforts that the organizers had put into this event, and feel it is OK to have this event every few years only. I'm not sure, if as many people would attend a yearly gathering in Wichita, KS. 3-5 year intervals keep this more interesting and worthwhile to make the long trip.

I think having an event annually in the KS area would be great, if there are volunteers to make it happen. I would suggest the scope of an OCIC is larger than needed on an annual basis, so perhaps something a bit smaller, more along the lines of the 928 Frenzy, SITM, Sharktoberfest, etc. might make more sense.
If you decide to put something together, I would be happy to submit a proposal for some sponsorship from the 928 OC. You can contact me via email to discuss this further if you like.

well with the KCWS and 928 OC and donations and volunteers I think we could get something going and it doesn't have to be Witchita you know.

Nope, it sure doesn't!
I am thinking of using Jay Willwoods suggestion from last year, "Sharks in the Ozarks!" I don't have any illusions of challenging the OCIC in terms of scope or reputation, but I am convinced there is a place for an annual midwest event for area 928 owners. Since we are already gathering for a fun weekend in the hills, why not bring the 928's out as well? ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Renntreffen takes place this year at Tan-Tar-A on Sept 23 through the 25th. We will be getting a group discount at the resort, will have secured underground parking available, a roped off parking lot for our Shine 'n' Show, some of the best driving roads in the US, and some of the best folks to hang out with in the world. We'll post some more info on it as time start gettings closer. Its very centrally located for folks from KC, St Louis, Wichita and Tulsa, and not much further from Oklahoma City and Memphis, and last year we had people come from as far away as Chicago. Last year, I covered the cost of the banquet room and food for the gathering, and I am not sure I want to take that expense this year, but we aim to make this a very inexpense gathering.
