And now for something completely different
Hello all,
word of caution, this is graphic intensive.
Some of you might have thought I was joking when I said I was redoing my interior in Ostrich
But the first phase is done:
The face is Elm burl and the leather is African Ostrich. The color is cognac.
The buttons are also leather and each button face is laser cut and retains the original illumination.
For now, the pod will be complemented by this:
Like I posted in another topic earlier, this concept can easily be adapted to suit other interiors and tastes. Carbon fiber comes to mind for the face.
It only shows that other possibilities exist outside of the original design.

Thanks guys,
I know that ostrich is not for everyone's taste. It seems to be a southern thing
In effect though, apart from it's distinctive look and obscene cost, it is one of the most resistant leather available.
And Steve: I'm almost ashamed to say it, but yes I do. The belt too

Is the ostrich smooth, or does it have "bumps" were the feathers used to be (like in the pics?)? How does ostrich last in comparison to leather? Better or worse? Defintely unique & excellent work...you will have a one of a kind 928 when your done!

Weissach:
there is no re-wrapping. The ostrich leather was glued over a vinyl pod just like Porsche would do it. I just added wood to the design. You can see how the leather was stretched over from the back picture.
Hey Doc:
you got it
Bigs:
I won't go that far
IcemanG17:
the leather is real African ostrich, so yes, you do feel the bumps. Ostrich is considered to be one of, if not the most durable leather available. It's obscenely pricy but for this purpose, it's perfect since it's natural oils will keep it from drying out.
Weissach:
The pod is the main focus. The dash is being reshaped to accept new equipment and will carry highlights of both wood and ostrich.
