Default HELP - Reinstalling My Rear Spoiler ... 81 - 928 S

I finally got around to reinstalling the spoiler on the rear hatch (which leaked during the recent rainy season). I bought the plastic fasteners from 928International and new hardware (as the prior owner had "fixed" this leak his own way with trim putty and nothing else). Everything is clean and ready to go. Anyway, once I got everything together, I realized that the plastic clips are marked 1 - 4 even though they look the same and one side has a slight indentation around the screw hole. Is there a unique orientation to the clips? I hate to install everything and just end up with a bigger leak!

The clips are referred to as fasteners in the manual and go around the hatch window (exterior side). A screw from the bottom (interior) of the hatch is screwed through them and into the spoiler. I have a washer and screw for each fastener. I am not around the 928 but recall perhaps 12 of these fasteners. There are tapered in shape.

Also, I can't find Terostat-33 which is the silicone rubber sealant recommended in the manual. I am going to stay away from silicone as I do have some bare metal and am worried about rust and plan to use some 3M sealant designed for sealing windows to the body (comes in a cartridge and you use a gun). Can anyone give me some advice on the orientation of the plastic fasteners and whether I am making a newbie mistake in using the 3M product.

This will be my Saturday project ...TIA Andrew
