Default UK / EU sourcing autorotor supercharger

Hi,

Anyone know if there is a UK / EU distributor network for autorotor superchargers? I've tried a thorough search and can't find a link anywhere. Might help get around the 17.5 % vat we have to pay on personal imports from outside EU. Do autorotor supply direct?

Ta very much

Thanks Geir,
Now can you teach us all Swedish in order that we don't end up buying a supercharger for a Hillman Imp??
But seriously if someone in the US would be prepared to send a supercharger kit to the UK registered as a REBUILD - we wouldn't have to pay the 17 1/2%VAT RIGHT or WRONG??
I would be prepared to spend the hard earned on a supercharger but no way 17 1/2% to the dear old taxman for NO DAMN GOOD REASON !

Consider yourself lucky, Geir and myself will have to pay 24%VAT... Yes I believe if the parts are "used" you don't have to pay VAT. I know it is common practice to rub oil and dirt all over new parts to make them look used before importing them! Maybe the SC vendors could offer this as a service for foreign customers?

Thanks Geir. I like the "second hand" idea Algie, i never even realised the loophole existed.

Bert.

Another option is the "gift" from a dear old friend for Your or Your wife's birthday....I'm sure the "gift" does not cost that much to begin with. Even GB should have a no tax limit on gifts from abroad.
Enem also list a phonenumber.

Why not use the Eaton blower ?, the one used by Jaguars ,then you could source one over here & just import the rest of the kit.

WRONG, VAT is charged even on used parts , but of course you can claim it cost less being secondhand, so pay less VAT

If it the same way as in Sweden you would have to pay the VAT, I think the EU rules are the same.

But hey, you can easily fit a supercharger in a suitcase.

And if you go through the green channel (nothing to declare) & they stop you, you get charged a huge excess charge + the tax.

There might be ways around it & ways to pay a little as possable , I've been importing parts from the USA for 20+ years now .

There are ways of getting around this, when travelling to Sweden from the US I always land in another EU country to change planes and I travel by train or car from Malmö (Sweden) to Copenhagen (Denmark) and fly from there. So since when I land in Denmark my bags have already touched ground in France or the UK and in Denmark I am still in transit to Sweden. Now since I arrive from a EU country the Danish customs aren't very interested in checking my luggage, even though I haven't seen my bags since I checked them in the US.

Does anyone want me to go to the US for a round tour? I've got time to do it..

Surely if Sweden is in the EU (apologies if not) and autorotors are produced in Sweden, then if applicable taxes have been paid at source i shouldn't get stung again?

As for tax on gifts - we are allowed £36.00 and then taxes apply (trust me i've been stung once for 17.5% plus £10.00 fee, if you've an answer Martin........

I considered eaton, but having spent an age reading up the various items i'd rather go for autorotor, the thought of paying £1000.00 in vat annoys me.
