Default Jager transmission relay shift?

Jager has this new product on their website. Is it a means of activating the kickdown process from the shifter button or something else? In the listing they say "In the final year of production, Porsche added a little transmission program to make the 928 more sporting". That doesn't sound quite like the kickdown. Curious.

It's basically a kickdown switch that is integrated into the shifter.

Pretty cool.

I find that after tightening the throttle and kickdown cables under the hood, my car will drop down to 2nd as high as 55 mph. Good enough for me

Only 55 Stig? You should be able to get 2nd as high as @70 mph with the four speed tranny. Kickdown workin' ok???

In '94 Porsche added dynamic kickdown to GTS. It monitors throttle movement and activates kickdown when certain parameters are met. There's no need to press pedal all the way down to activate kickdown switch. It's little difficult to add this system to older models but it has been done. Jager version probably isn't this complex.

Dynamic kickdown... that explains why my tranny always seems to be in the correct gear for what I am doing... cool... I did not that thanks Erkka.

I installed the Jager kickdown switch just before my engine went sideways so i haven't had a chance to use it...The Jager shifter has a button on top which activates the kickdown on the transmission, rather than having to floor the gas pedal. Fairly easy install.....wires connect to the relays on the fuse panel and its completely hidden.....i can hear the transmission switch when i activate the button but will need a new motor before i can use it!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is intergrated into the shifter - is there a separate button for the kickdown? If it uses the top button how do you shift from park to rev to drive? Just curious since yesterday I was looking at this very item?

Same button for both....not sure of the correct terminology, but the button activates what i would call an intermitant switch, so you're kickdown is temporarily engaged when you depress the button to get out of park....at this point you are free to change gears and engage the kickdown with your thumb when you want. I have to say the product quality is excellent.....i bought the color coded/black leather shifter, brushed aluminum face plate and leather boot....it is classy and very 'original' looking.

It's a paralell kickdown switch, the same as many 928 A/T users fit, but integrated into the shift ****.

Paul sent me one of his prototypes a while ago. Easy to install and works well. I added an LED and an on/off switch to add the possibility to leave the kickdown on when I want to, without holding the button. But most of the time, I leave the permanent switch off and just press the shifter button when I need it.

Works really well.

Paul
