Default Stroker motors?

How much do they cost, how reliable are they compared to stock, how much power will they make at the Rear Wheels, and is there any downside besides the price? Wouldn't it be chaper to rebuild my heads and install some nasty cams? Or does the V8 not want to spend most of its life over 7,500 due to the oiling problem? Just doing a bit of re-search, any help or experience regarding em would be awesome

Don't know really myself but I have a spare '86 engine to find out with. Will built it for boost, say maybe a 6.0l with a few lbs of boost.

I think you mean 6,500 rpms....since I don't know of any 928 engine that likes to rev to 7,500?

As for cost....it is not cheap..... Check this website
http://www.928developments.com/64L_engine_build.htm

It lists a 6.4L stroker installed for $18336.00 based on a healthy engine to start with! I would imagine other shops would be around the same price. A supercharger is far cheaper....but won't pass smog either :>(

Well mine goes to 7 now, and hp peak is around the normal, I was just thinking of leaving the 5.0 in it and rapping the **** out of it if it would make power with some huge cams up there...

Problem is there are no huge cams available, especially not for 32V engines. GT cams is all there is and even they are hard to find.

If you were going to hire someone to do your stroker for you, then you would be money ahead to have Marc at Devek do it instead. Might cost a little more but it would be done right.

Not unless there is a chip that took out the rev limiter.
7K is far past peak power, so your gaining nothing except wear and possible 2/6 issue.

Yes and what is a 2/6 issue, somthing to do with the pistons oiling issues? I shift at about 6,500 most of the time.

Why doesn't someone take an engine and build a ready to go stroker that is drop in ready and sell them with the exchange of your original engine. Just keep one on hand at all times rather then downing someone's car for months on end. I think some side money can be made there. I wish I had the room/knowledge/money/patience/tools/drive/motor/.........

Joe,
Easy answer. No one wants to lay up that kind of cash in "inventory" hoping for a buyer. Then you have the issue of what type of stroker, street or track. Then type of head work and CR ratio.
To many factors to build a stroker that can cost $15K-$25K!

Joe
I also think strokers are very much a custom built engine with many different intake-heads-cams-CR-pistons-etc...a 5.5-6.0-6.5 liter engine? Wide range of power too....up to 550rwhp (race engine) to around 400whp for a street legal automatic. Either way you get a mountain of torque down low.

We have the DEVEK B1 cams for 5l S4 and later. 1mm intake lift and 10mm exhaust lift. Mild increase in valve timing.

Adds approx. 30+ rwhp to a stock engine, broadens top end torque and is often used in strokers to add another 500-700 rpm to peak hp. Install requires changing valve springs.

Marc
