Ever since I bought my current 928 it has had a very annoying and intermittent 'chirp' in the upper left side of the dash. Just one of those things that keeps getting put low on the priority list. Tonight on my way home from work a new wrinkle has made itself known... I had my left foot firmly planted on the dead pedal and noticed that the 'chirp' directly effects, or is affected by the cruise control relay behind the dead pedal. I feel the relay clicking at the same frequency as the 'chirp'! Engaging the cruise control seems to mitigate the chirping. The chirping is most prevalent upon lifting my foot off the gas pedal, and could possibly be related to the rumble the exhaust makes when lifting off the throttle. What I'm mainly curious about is what the heck makes the chirping sound in the dash??
I'm not too worried about it as it seems to have no effect on the function of the cruise control, but it sure would be nice to silence that chirping!
Any ideas?

The chirp may be the little black/blue vacuum check valve near the brake booster. Try sucking thru the check valve and see if it squawks or chirps.
