Question Cam Timing Setup Questions

.I’ve rebuilt and filled the tensioner and installed and tensioned a new belt on my 86.5.
.At the TDC mark, the cam shaft sprockets are aligned perfectly with the marks on the cam shaft bearing caps.
.I’m now ready to check the cam timing at cyl 1 and 6.
.When measuring the lift for cyl 1 where do I set the dial gauge (pre-loaded) to zero – at the same point as #2 or at the TDC mark on the crank 180 past this point?
.With all marks aligned, after one full turn (360) past TDC the gauge reads 2.15mm at 20 ATDC.
.With marks 180 out at TDC on the crank, and gauge set to zero, the gauge drops immediately once past TDC and reads a perfect 1.6mm at 20 ATDC. I get the same reading when I go through a 360 rotation – 1.6mm at 20 ATDC.
.Which procedure is correct?
.What’s the correct setup point for cyl 6 – TDC with marks aligned or TDC 180 out?
