Talking who can answer a very quick offset question for me!?

Hey guys, I have a choice to buy some 17" Technology I wheels from Hartman wheels and I'd like to know the offset for the 928 S4 (1987).

Here are the wheel selections:

-17x7.5 ET 23
-17x7.5 ET 52
-17x9.0 ET 47
-17x9.0 ET 15

which 7.5's and which 9's fit the 87 S4

Did you try an archives search, Andrew?

I found a link on my own relating to offsets from factory:

http://members.rennlist.com/pirtle/s4suspen.htm

But it looks like the

7.5 x 17" ET 52 Front

9 x 17" ET 47 Rear

will fit the 928 S4. I will call Hartman to be sure

BTW, this should provide some assistance for any other offset questions asked instead of digging through 3,000 threads worth

Default From memory

If my memory serves me, the rear offset is 55MM and is not critical. However, the front offset is 65MM and is much more critical. Lesser offsets have been used, but when you start approaching offsets in the mid to low fifties, there are concerns. It it said to affect the "scrub radius", which (if I understand it correctly) is the ability of the steering to center itself and return to a neutral position. There is quite alot of information available on this if you search the forum.
The unusual offsets require wheels unique to the 928, and a few other models.

Make that 3001.

Folks just need to ask before laying out a grand or three.

This is great info on buying wheels and tires for the 928. The conclusions are on the conservative side. Beats having wheels that stick out for that fun urban stupidhead look.
