Its not Gemballa - I dont think.

Oh, I thought you were kidding. It's the man who made your car, Ferdinand Porsche.

Rog,
I think it's Ferry Porsche's signature.

Sorry, your smirky, waving smiley guy in your first post threw me off an made me think you were just asking a rhetorical question.

I think they did those seats in '82 for the 40 year anniversary of Father Porsche's passing. Does that match up with the year of the car?

That I don't know. Nicole seems to be the resident special models/options expert - she would probaly know. She's kind of a night owl so she's probably just waking up and hasn't seen this post yet.

Hi Roger:

I don't remember the details, but don't think this was ever available in the US - at least I have never seen a car with this over here.

The cloth on these burgundy seats seems to be some aftermarket material that I am not familiar with, either.

I quickly checked my books and brochures without any mention of this. Any more detailed info I'd have to dig for - and probably won't have time to do so in the next two-to-three weeks.

Sorry that I can't be of more help.

I had the same seats in my 82 euro before replacing them..same script on headrest and the same cloth stripe inserts. I believe it is an OEM option, never seen on a US production car. There was a prior post that i cannot find that shows a page in the factory shop manual with the same script on the seat headrest.

There's an 82 Euro for sale on ebay right now with the same seats. You can see the signature in one of the last interior pics where the rear seats are shown and the drivers seat is peeking in the upper right corner. Check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6432
