My thinking is that the only way this would be an economical solution would be if the mounts could be rehabilitated while ON the car. If they have to be removed, there's no real benefit to it, considering the low cost of the Anchor mounts.

Randy V has the basic idea...unless it can be done on the car, then there is no benefit to be had. FWIIW, replacing the mounts with something new is the overall best solution...I'm just exploring other possibilities to extend the existing units and make them servicable for awhile longer.

My mounts are definitely collapsed, but my sump is not riding the crossmember. It's very close, mind you...less than a 1/2" clearance. I agree that if the pan was touching to crossmember, the speedmount would not make things any worse (and probably would make the situation better).
