86 S2 engine upgrade to GTS
as the engine is re-assembled and nearly complete ive been looking at wiring to see how this is going to work, the current situation utilises three different generations of wiring.... we have a GTS engine, an S4 harness, and the 86 car. my eyes are nearly shot from starring at poorly reproduced images of wiring diagrams and tracing the black lines, not helped by having to first stick several overlaping pages together (scanned pdf images) that more or less line up.
cutting a long story short, it would seem to be relatively straight forward! the engine will run without cats, no O2 sensor, no ignition control module and so adapting the harness to the engine is easy. from the harness to the car there are only two wiring differences on plug 'W' and only five on plug 'V' - here is the list i have made.

the only questions i have left (apart from whether it will work) are: do i need to install a transmission switch? what does the output from LH pin 15 do and where does it go after v15 and j21?
i am also converting from auto to manual and hopefully installing a double disc clutch.

Nick,
Don't worry about pin 15 LH it is not a show stopper for you. It is effectively an input into the LH from the aircon compressor clutch.

Hi Nick,
No problem ! That engine looks beautiful !
I do have an RMB for my 86 S2 thanks. I managed to get one made here in UK. I assume that one suitable for a US 86.5 would also fit my '86 S2 ? Is that how you sourced yours ?
When does the engine go into the car ?

yes the RMB is the same for the US 86.5 and late euro S2, i got mine from 928 int but i cant seem to find anyone in the UK to take it off my hands. the same will be true im sure with the engine when it comes out - speaking of which, im waiting for chris to give me a time to drop the car off!
