Performance Friction Brakes
Any word on these? I'd be using them for street driving and autocross/DE.
I've got a line on sets ranging from $120 for the normal ones to $250 for the Z rated PFC pads. Either one has a two year free replacement warranty. I figure if I'm doing my part to wear them out, I can make good use of it.

I have never used them before. I use Metal Master Blue for street, Pagid Orange for track.

Hard to pick betwen all the pads available. I decided to go with Hawk Blue after several recommendations.
These guys were the cheapest and handle PF pads:

BTW - I asked about geting PF pads for my 944 and they said they didn't make them in the right size. The pre-S4 928 and that 944 use the same rears. Maybe they were wrong.

Hackr... when you get thirty looks and no responses and your post (which has a question) gets pushed to the second page, one tends to become agitated. It's kinda like getting a phone call, but no one leaves a message, it's just annoying.
The parts computer at AutoZone pulls up a set of these brake pads for both the 928 (in '81 and '85) and the 944. The 944 is listed as the only option on the Performance Friction website. Since the 928 S4 and 944 M030/S2 brakes are the same, it stands to reason that they should be available.
I'd have to order them, but if they don't work I can send them back.

OK. You're looking at the street and Z compounds. I was looking for PF90 or other race pads.

I find Friday thru Sunday to be bad times to get quick answers from the Gods. Start of spring break probably doesn't help either.

I figure Z rated compounds are sufficient for my purposes. I'll go with more aggressive race pads for my race car.

It's the end of Spring break for me. Arizona has always been a little off when it comes to scheduling. Probably something to do with all those years with no daylight savings time.

I've used the street/track PF pads (years ago - I don't remember the specific pad) for mixed DE/road use. They are very good and last for a long time. But, they were - for me - very aggressive on the rotors. I've found the Hawk SP+ pads to offer the same level of braking performance and they are less aggressive on the rotors. But, they last less than half as long as the PFs.

I'm figuring on wearing these rotors out as an excuse to update to GTS brakes. I know, it's a lame excuse, but if you're gonna do it anyhow you might as well make the most of what you've got right?
Like I said, Z rated pads for now, HAWK or Pagid when the time is right (and I NEED to stop that fast).

i've used the pf 97 compound on the track for a couple of years and recently switched to the 01 compound. 944 guys seem to really like the 97s as well. i've been very happy with them, but they need to be hot to work so i would not use them for anything but track.

I have 'big reds' on the front of my car & 91 twin turbo rotors. I put on the Z pads all the way around 6 years ago & they're still on the car. Stops like I threw an anchor out the window, never any squeaks. Best pads I ever had.
