Burning Brakes
Bryant,
If what you say is true, she was definately running lean. Control pressure too high. I second TAREK, invest in the fuel gauges it will make the guess work much easier next time.

Well,
In the end the shark is back on the road. Parts came right away from Jim Bailey! It took twenty minuites to change out. In the process I also found the throttle body hose needing to be re-positioned. It did not like the backfiring! Everything is back to normal, Yes!
Thanks again to everyone for their input.

Pressure regulator. I love the location of this part...up front right on top! It was an easy change out.
Now, can anyone tell me how I can add my shark as an avitar? Damn if I can find where to do this task.

The OP posted last that the problem was solved by a new pressure regulator. What kind of "updates" were you expecting?

Many folks land here when a search engine dredges up an old thread. Without considering the age of the thread (tough to tell with the dates of the posts hidden at the top corner of each one...), it's brought back to life by someone who doesn't read all the way through. Hard to swallow criticism by folks who can't seem to take the time to read through what's already been posted.

FYI guys, here is the issue:

Extra points for a new user actually using the search.
Propane?
For starters it's a good idea to share a little about yourself, like location. In many cases you may find a fellow 928 owner with a bit of wrenching experience right around the corner.

Hey wallyP I think my 79 928's fuel pump shuts off after start how do I fix that. My car is not getting enough fuel to stay running I know this because I can keep it running if I put a propane hose down the intake. It starts right up then shuts off like I turned the ignition off after 2-5 seconds.
