Default Euro side marker lights

Ok people my side marder lights front and rear are starting to fall apart, is there any nice looking options to replace these lights. Ive attached some pics of my car and would appreciate some feedback from you guys and gals. Just to be clear I'm talking about the ones that they put on when they federalize the car. I am hoping that maybe the ones that come stock on the US cars will work, I know they are recesed in the fenders but who knows. Thanks in advance.

Andy

different "labs" used different lights some I have been told were Jeep CJ-7 of the early 1980s.......The USA lights sit in a beveled recess and the metal fabrication to fit them is a big task so most get surface mounted lights. You can go to a big used car lot and look at sidemarkers and when you find something large enough jot down the model and year and check pricing. The Jeep lights are cheap less than $10 each I was told.

Or you can get ornery and fill them. (Look to left)

As Jim said, each place used different lights so there's no standard. You might try looking for trailer lights or other add-ons. J.C. Whitney?

No markers, turn signals, rub strips or passenger side mirror - "that's hot".

My suggestion would be to find a older wrecking yard that hasn't gone modern in the quick turnover "auto recycler" sense and cruise the aisles looking for inoffensive possible replacements.
I looked through the pictures of my car and couldn't find anything that adequately highlights mine, but the rear markers rectangular units with Toyota script on them, I'd say they're late seventies vintage. Here's a picture of my car the day I bought it. Pretty, I know... but it gives you a vague idea what I'm talking about.

Some of the side lights that have been inflicted on poor 928's are criminal. Fitting OEM recessed ones is pointless, if you go to that trouble just fill the holes. I mean... come on, at this point who's going to gig you on it? I suppose some states have tough inspection rules, but I think a sympathetic tester could be found...

I got lucky and only had rear lights scabbed on my car. The "Federalization" of my car was done in Alaska, where conscientious oversight means that no bears were seen when the plane buzzed the area. Which is to say very little was done to the car. For front sides they actually scabbed in a second bulb to the front of the turn signal repeaters to serve as the US light. Those were purged during the comprehensive lighting examination done when I first bought it..

Don't settle for a set of those horrid generic truck stop lights. Keep your eyes peeled as you drive around. Find a car with some lights that might work then call around and find them in the junk yards...good luck.

Is there a reason why I cant get the original us car side markers and put them on? I know they wouldnt sit recesed in but they should have a gasket of some type so it would seal on the fenders.

Andy that is exactly what I'd do. Dremel, bend, fold and instal. You've got enough metal to work with, why not. On my Euro, thankfully the PO had US front fenders installed, so I don't have forty side marker lights that look like Ford Ranger lights

The USA markers need the recessed beveled lip plus a very large hole since so much of the light protrudes behind the lens ....check it out http://www.mailordercentral.com/928i...tem=4&mitem=20

In the Picture PorKen posted; It's interesting to see that the original 928 had clear front turn signal lenses! A beautiful car!

A prime example of "less is more" - except that I find it impractical to drive a 928 with only one mirror.
