I looked at an 89 s4 today and the top covering on the door panel below the window was separated. Is this usual because of the heat? Can it be fixed by reglueing? Thanks.

rather common issue with 928s... the top of the door panel can be tricky.. most folks have luck using 3M interior and trim adhesive.. comes in a can and is easy to use
doesn't always work if you are in a really hot climate but you should be ok in NY

not sure Victor, I'm fabricating new door panels for the 77 and using a similar product that was recommended to me... I'll have results after this summer.. we get pretty humid here
I'll post results when I know how it holds up
one thing I've learned is that when I put the pieces together I use a cut down yardstick on each side and small spring clamps to get an even pressure, then I leave it for a day or so instead of just gluing and putting them right back on the car a couple hours later

For those of you fortunate enough to live in a sauna why not try some high heat spray adhesives like those used in adhering the foil backed heat shields. The stuff I have is "Quality Heat Shield sound deadener" contact adhesive. Got it last summer from JC whitney when I re-did the C-J7.
