Default Dumb Chip Question

Hey Listers -

How do I get my chips out. Do I need to bring tools out to my car or is this a quick-snap 2-second job?

Thanks

There is no such thing as a 2 second job on a 928... though 2 seconds will get you a third of the way to 60 mph.

GW;

The chips are installed inside the LH and EZK boxes. You need to remove them from the pass. footwell, (6mm allen wrench and 10mm socket) pry the little metal tabs apart (w/o breaking them), carefully remove/install chips and replace.
Maybe a 40 minute job start to end.
Call me if you need any help.

Note the orientation of the EPROMs when you remove them, you can install the new chips backwards! There is an indentation on the chip package that matches the indentation on the socket.

Also, note the number on the EPROM tags so if you ever decide to put the stock EPROMs back you know which goes into the spark controller and which goes into the LH. Store them in a safe place. I've had customers who wanted to go back to stock and lost the stock chips.

Thanks all -

Sounds pretty straight forward. I'll try to get at it today.

I put my original chips in my glove box. They would get lost or broken anywhere else.

As ususal when handling electronics, ground yourself first. Electrostatic shock can damage these things, according those little warning labels.
