Default 928 wing mods

I caved in to family pressure requesting that I keep the car "what, are you nuts?". The car will not be sold. If it is ever sold it will go to my family. My nephew called and started crying. My sister offered one of her garages for storage. I also received a number of PMs from folks who twisted my arm to keep her. Thanks guys!

The 930S will become another project car. I'm going to need a bigger house or at least another garage.

Two Porsches are always better than one!

[Though it is a difficult decision I am going to move on to a new project. I have been influenced by the dark side. I test drove a 1988 slant nose 930S today. It is lust. It is 2900 lbs. It puts out 450 HP with the simple bolt ons. Some of the DP 935s are producing upwards of 835 HP. Very few production cars to date even comes close. It feels like a go cart on steroids.

Porsches are project cars for me. They are toys that I love to tinker with. The 930S offers a fantastic range of variables for a performance nut. This is what I'm looking at:]

This 928 has been a great car. Now that I have it sorted out it is time for someone else to enjoy it. They will get a car that offers performance just short of an SC or Stroked car. I will post again when I determine how much I have in this beast and what is fair.

The car pictured in not what I'm buying but very similar (for reference). Doc has $140K in the 88 with a full engine rebuild and mods. Once I have it checked out we will settle. We are both thinking in $30K range.

3) Stock fuel pressure = 48 PSI, idle, no vacuum, 55 PSI fuel relay jumpered

Addendum

1) Smog for CA: In order to pass emissions with the Ott X pipe, Random Technology CATs, and DynoMax mufflers the following configuration is required.

a) The engine must be in good running condition, fuel injectors, O2 sensor, MAF, CATs, no vacuum leaks, stock fuel pressure = 48 PSI (vacuum line off RRFPR for setting), normal compression, clean spark plugs, new air filter.
b) The stock chips must be installed in the LH and EZ controllers
c) The air diverter valve is turned off by placing a plastic ball in the vacuum line but the air line must be connected to the X pipe in order to pass visual inspection
d) Verify: The AFR at 2000 RPM will measure 14.3:1 with the O2 sensor bypassed as measured with the O2 sensor removed and a Lambda probe installed. The engine must be hot during this test. IR temperatures will read 400F at the CAT inlet and 500F at the CAT outlet. This verifies that the system is working properly prior to the smog test.
e) The CARB certification for the Random Technology CATs must be in the glove box with the registration at all times.

Thanks! Someone will get a nice performance 928.

It's becoming evident that power to weight ratio is more important to me. (my) 928: 420 HP / 3600 pounds. 930S: 450 HP / 2900 pounds. DP935: 800 HP / 3000 pounds, and so on.

The heavier car is a nice performance cruiser. The lighter one is a snappy little go cart.

Wait a minute...
With exhaust, head work, and a RRFRP, you're getting 420hp?!

Yup, 349 at the back wheels, 5900 RPM. 420 x 0.83 for AT losses. 420 chp. Louie was getting about 342 to 347 rwhp on his GT every day. I am running higher flow mufflers and have bigger intake valves. Also custom fuel and timing maps.

Looks like I'm staying but will also become a member of the 911 Turbo (930S) club.

Steve,
Glad to see you are keeping the 928. What do you think about the Erebuni wing from an aerodynamic standpoint? Would there be any way to get 5 more degrees out of it? I'm thinking about calling them up and seeing if they still have one available, as $225 is much better than the $600+ for other setups, but I'm still on the fence as to whether it would be a good wing for a track car.
