Drivers Needed
OK guys, other than Stan Pendergraft...no other rennlisters at the DE in Kershaw with the Carolinas Region. There were three 928's...two 91 GT's and one '86 S. I changed to 17 rims with Kuhmo Victoracer's and the difference was amazing. On my stock suspension I gobbled up so many cars that were clearly faster (like the Ferrari 360 Modena), but were not able to keep up in the turns. Anyhow, I don't mean to brag, but these cars are incredible, when pushed to their limits; and it's just a shame there are not more of these out here. Lots of 911's, Boxter's, Vettes, and a few others, but 928's are definitely the albatross. I don't think people understand how much torque and natural stability has been built into these cars. They seem to be thought of as bulky and awkward...until you go by car after car.
My photo file is too large, so it won't upload, but I hope to see more of you soon. The next DE is in May...just go to www.carolinas-pca.com.
Best wishes,
Roland

Three Wheelin'
At my last DE at Sebring, another owner approached me. He was interested in the year of my 928 and what mods I had done. Long story short, he was a Boxster S owner, surprised to have me go by him. I don't k now how a 928GT should perform against a Boxster S if you take driver differences into account, but on this day on this track my GT was quicker. At my last DE at Moroso I was very slow in the first session (my first time on this track). I would have been passed by a Yugo if there was one out there. During the third session, however, my instructor kept impressing on me that we were quicker than the early Viper that was running in our group. I was pulling him in about 50 yards per lap. Two more and he was mine - too bad time ran out. Do I believe that my GT is quicker than a Viper on the track - no. Must have been some other factors coming into play. But it did show me that we can surprise alot of folks with these things.

Yes it is, and that's the bummer, but here's the solution suggested to me by another 928 driver at the track (hey is this you by the way, James?). I'll be travelling down with my son (who I normally take to the race) on Friday in order to tech the car. Then do a little racing on Saturday, and head up to Charlotte (I'll be trailering the 928 this time), while I leave my car at the track. I'll return after the Nextel Challenge Sat. night, and then race the car on Sunday. I'll be returning in the afternoon on Sunday. It's a packed weekend, but one that allows me to take in both events, since the next DE in Kershaw is not until October. DE'ing these cars is a great way to learn the limits of your car.

Sorry guys. I planned to go and spectate, but my sister in law came in for a visit, and we haven't spent near enough time with family lately. It was a great weekend none the less.
