Heinrich,

Don't feel so bad... I just got another ticket on Hwy 1 in Monterey.. I was going with the flow of traffic about 70, and was blocked in by donny doo good in his GMC Envoy and Suzy Smartypants in her Nissan Maxima.. I, wanting to be safe, tapped the brakes, allowed some distance, then cut over 3 lanes to be away from these morons.. I accelerated a bit to stay clear of them, and next thing I know, I have the CHP all over my butt with his Xmas tree glowing..

Pulled you over for your speed sir.. Um, the highway is full of traffic, and this joker says he's been following me for 1-2 miles... Anyway, he says I was going 80 in a 65... Supposedly paced me... I find that hard to do in 3 lanes of traffic with cars filling up the highway..

So, I'll be calling my barrister to see waht this yutz wrote in the discovery process... Maybe he will not appear, and I'll get lucky... This time, if they throw the book, I'll need to go to traffic schol if I don't beat it..

Ruined my afternoon drive it did....!

Sorry to hear that Brother. I told this copper the honest truth which is that I do not believe I was doing over 70. He said: "Well I am very sure also. You don't have to agree with me, your day to disagree will be in court".

Sometimes I bother telling them I know they are lying, but mostly I shut up and write the lawyer a check.

I have a friend who was stopped after a bear spotted him coming from the wrong direction on the other side of the freeway and turned around to chase after him. My friend asked how fast he had to go to catch up. The bear told him over 80, and my friend said to him that he would demand in court a citizen's arrest (against the bear)for exceeding the speed limit without his lights. The bear never showed in court.

Ron, that's what ticks me off here. I travel down GA 400 (aka the "Alpharetta Autobahn") for the daily commute. I've been ticketed for 76 in a 65 (in a Jeep) and he asked "Sir, do you know how dangerous it is when you're speeding?"

At least once a week I'm going down 400 and a cop passes me, no lights and many times not in his jurisdiction. Every time I've picked it up behind them, they are going at least 75 and usually 80-85 in that same 65 zone where it's "so dangerous" for me to go that fast.

Best one was three weeks ago. I was in the Boxster, one goes flying by so I flipped lanes and caught up (100 yards behind him) and followed for 3 miles outside of his jurisdiction (on his way into work) before he got off the highway. We were doing 95 the whole time. This guy was from a neighboring town that prides itself on nailing speeders because they are "soooo dangerous". I guarantee you I'm a safer driver at 100+ than most of these people who pay no attention to what's around them at 60-65.

Here's what should be said to them:

especially considering the origin of these machines and their proven superiority and fitness for performance at speeds far in excess of posted limits.

Heinrich,

I thought really hard about going along, but can never get up before noon on Sundays.

I had a feeling you guys were trouble when I joined this outfit.

Let me know if you need a character reference!

David thanks :-) ... Dave, Dude, next time we will be a bit more organised. Remember we were all but one, without detectors and had no radios and no bearcat. Also, we hadn't planned the drive, just a leisurely breakfast. Next time we'll be expecting more. Very easy, it's our own damn stupidity to be honest.

Default 928 Gang Bang

This is the Arizona version (several years ago). No tickets were given ... only a warning of 65+ in a 65 zone. It seems that the officer said he saw our cars at a distance as we turned off the road he was on, he turned around to follow us, and pushed the pedal all the way down. He drove wide open for 30 miles and could never even see us. He radioed ahead to a county mounty for assistance.

If he could never see us, it wasn't possible to site us. After officer steam head cooled down (one of our group was a member of a city police jurisdiction, that seemed to help), the officers were talking about how the Crown Vics are terrible over 90 MPH and can't steer and brake. So they drive like crazy putting their lives and other's lives in danger chasing cars that were designed to go 100 mph with ease. Makes sense to me, yep.

Almost enough to make one sick, really. These parts, they use SUV's and that guy was driving like a maniac, passing us on double yellow around mountain curves. SOP it seems.

I guess the law is, if they think you're speeding they will say whatever they need to, to get you a ticket. As I say, not a big deal, I know how to deal with that
Heinrich
The officer "claims" he radared each car that was driving single file on a single (for your direction) lane....Hmmm....that is the biggest load of BS I have heard in a while....I currently use the "best" radar unit made & it can do alot of things.....but it CANNOT radar 4 cars in a row on a single lane road....it will take the speed of the first car it locks on, then just hold the speed as the other cars go by. If he was on the side of the road the best he could get was the first and last car.....but even then the machine will only hold one "lock" speed?

However, maybe the laws in Washington are different than here in the "Republic of CA"? It all comes down to who the judge believes?

I just realised he wrote a completely wrong licence number into my ticket. My number is "123-abc" (example) and he's got "4359871". Interesting. The number he wrote in doesn't resemble my number or that of any of my other Porsches (I thought maybe I had accidentally given him the wrong reg paper but no).

Brian I know it is bull. I do believe he MAY have got the LAST car (one that ended up not getting a ticket) as he was catching up to us, but I KNOW I was not speeding as he passed me, or as he followed me later. Thanks for your input Dude

Ya he just got the speed of one car and used that for all the others.... BS & more BS, but what can you do? Traffic school is always cheaper and easier than a fighting a ticket (thats why they do it)

Getting the info wrong on the cars plate is odd & that can't be your VIN either? Hopefully he got your drivers license # wrong too!
