Default AutoCar article

Was looking at the current AutoCar mag. today and there was a small article on a guy in the U.K. that is runnning a disamntling biz there. Funny how he got started. He bought a 928 and it blew up on him on the way home. He bought another car and used the parts from it to repair the first one. Then he parted out the other car for money to keep car #1 running. He also learned to wrench them and now most 928 owners take their cars to him. Sounds like he is a 928 Intl and Precision Motorwerks all in one. Article also said he is seeing a rise in popularity of the car there. Might just be P.R. crap though....

I like hearing about people who make a living doing what they love. It gives me reason to hope.

Sounds exactly like the article that is reprinted in "928 Takes on the Competition" (I think - or one from the same series as the 928 Performance Portfolio). AutoCar recycling old material?

No - this is new material. In fact I don'tremember such and article in "928 Takes on the Competition" .

The guy in question is Paul Anderson of 928spares.uk He is helping to raise the profile of the 928 in England , as he runs a 928 specialist garage, and charges reasonable labour rates. Thanks to people like him, 928 ownership is now affordable, now that the Porsche centres have effectively disowned the 928.

Paul is a real enthusiast ! He also sells spares, as was mentioned in the article.

Yes and no. In Porsche 928 Takes on the Competition there is story originally printed in 911 & Porsche World January '98 issue featuring Stewart Hannah. According to story he had few spare cars back then and would sell extra parts away.

Hi Erkka,
Yes, sorry you are quite correct :-) However, Stewart was selling the parts as a private individual.

Paul's interest in 928s came a little later, and he has set himself up repairing 928s full time. Plus selling spares. He also makes RMBs, and a nice stainless steel replacement for the fuel tank support strap.

He's at www.928spares.co.uk

Regards
