Unhappy 1978 928 with Stuck Power Seat

My driver seat in my 1978 928 is stuck in the fully forward position. I just bought the car and haven't gotten the manuals yet! The seat is getting power at its closest connector (+12/-12 in forward or back switch position), but I only hear a relay clicking when the switch is pushed to its forward position. This seat is not like the later 928s described in this forum, but has the motors in the BACK of the seat. I cannot locate a manual retraction as other threads describe. I also cannot identify the front mounting screws for the seat in its fully-forward position. Any idea how to manually move it back? HELP PLEASE!

Usually the seat failures are in the switch itself , due to dirty, burnt or corroded contacts .Mine is an 83 with std looking and operating 6 way seats. These have a clutch lever underneath that will disengage the gears from the motors, but to move it by hand on the cross shaft after that would take a mighty strong grip on my car! If you are hearing a relay click, but getting no other action, sounds like the switch is working, but no power getting to motor in that direction.
Hope another OB owner can help...

Had the same problem with an 89 928. Screw shaft was fouled in forward position by the plastic stop washers. Cut the washers off and works fine.

There is a manual release lever for the front/rear sliders on my 1980 seats. I believe the 1978 seats should have one as well. It's fairly well hidden up under the front edge of the seat, near the middle.
