Were the upper suspension links (curved aluminum parts that hold the upper end of the rear upright) taken off? We have seen one case where these were put back on upside down, and were hitting the axles.

andrew..... i had the car on jack stands and in 1st driving of course with something blocking the tires and crowled under the car but i didnt see anything and with my luck there was no sound.
Wally... the parts you are talking about were removed but after the noise was already happening, i figured it was the hub bearings so while that was apart i did all the suspensions rubbers.
i guess this is a difficult one.

That's what I figured (see I made it black).
Well if that's not it, I'd say you're gonna have to rig a setup to determine where it's coming from. Hope it's a cheap one.
Good luck, let us know what you find out.

Andrew i think my next idea would be to jack up the car under each rear lower arm at the same time so i dont mess up the settling point i described and put it in gear to pin point the problem. Of course caution will take place

Hopefully Extreme Caution! You may want to put the nose against something solid. THat way if disaster should strike (God forbid), the car should just stall. Also make sure you're in 4th or 5th gear, that should also help to stall the engine idf the tires touch the ground. It's be like droping the clutch in 4th gear. Nothing happens. Good luck.

Ahh I wouldn't put my head next to a spinning tire and I've done some real dummy things in my life. (trying to outrun two NJ State Troopers for example, {if their was only one cruiser the 928 would have been gone in the night}) Anyway for under $100.00 remote electronic ears is the tool of choice for pinpointing noises while you drive.

ok i jacked up the car the way i wanted and did a test and what a surprise no sound (figures) so i went for another drive and did another test. When im driving giving the car gas theres no sound, when im in gear just rolling you hear the sound, when you take the car out fo gear as your rolling the sound cuts down about 95% you just here it slightly but you can tell its coming from the rear of the car since theres no carpet or sound deadner so it comes in pretty clear..
