What are S4 calipers made of?

Default What are S4 calipers made of?

Hi.
I'm stripping a botched PO paint job off my 87 S4 calipers and redoing them in the original black. The PORSCHE lettering looks good sanded back and I am cosidering leaving this natural (silver look) - are the calipers rust resistant alloy / aluminium? They seem very soft.

IIRC they are aluminium.

They corrode badly in certain conditions, you usually only find out when you try to change the pads. Here are links to an article in "911 & Porsche World" describing how to refurbish them, however this didn't entirely work for me:
