How do you like the new oil gimmic from Mobile 1?
Have you seen the ads for the 5,000 - 7,500 & 15,000 mile motor oils?
What a crock of sh*t this is. The 5k is nothing more than dyno oil, the 7.5k is a blend, the 15k is their synthetic formula.

Was a good way for them to raise the price of the Mobil 1 we've been using for years, eh? It's all in the packaging. Two teenage girls have proven that time and time again.

Love those guys over at Mobil. I can't even afford to buy their gas over others, let alone thier oils. Geez. Gas is gas no matter where you buy it right? Why pay more?

Hi, yes Nicole well put!
But then Jiffy Lube obviously knew more than Porsche didn't they?
Expect to see more Oil Companies advertise longer drain intervals as the NA Car Companies play catch up to Europe.
The 928 the original 12months or 12000miles was recommended using mineral oils!
The UOAs I have posted here prove Porsche correct with a 50% margin using new technology oils like M1
Group 3 synthetics or semi synthetics will lead the charge here. They will be lower priced as they now use very advanced hydro-cracked basestocks from the Big Three Oil companies. ExxonMobil the largest supplier has a very advanced range that they sell to the boutique oil producers (Amsoil etc). These lubricants will carry full ACEA A3B3-04 endorsement (the minimum quality standard for the 928) and many will be Porsche Approved too (along with VW, DC-MB, BMW LL, Opel LL and etc)
The excellent Group 4/5 synthetics (Delvac 1 5w40 is a Group 5) will still lead the way for people who want to pay!
Regards
