Default engine rebuild

My car has 165,000 km on it. How long are these engine good till untill they need a rebuild? if they do need one, do I need to put steel sleves in the cylinders or do I not need to bother?

Your engine should easily go THREE times as far as it has ....! get back to us in 15-20 years when you might need a rebuild

you are about half way depending on how hard it's driven and whether there have been any major failures... if not, see Jim's response above
you could always check compression and leak down to see where you stand, if those results are good leave that thing alone

that's why it is imperative that you purchase another shark... you must have a spare around... or 2 or 3 or... oh forget it, I lost count

haha..that reminds me of my vws, I have 2 or 3 parts cars lying around and they come in very handy! I wish the 928s were easily available like the vws are up here.
