has anyone tried these tires before?

I know this is not quite to the question, but I put Falken GR Beta 451s on mine late in the summer, and got enough miles on them before putting the car up for the winter to be really impressed. From Discount Tire, they were $95 and $118 in stock 16" sizes, but even considering I got a "good neighbor" discount of $10/tire, they're very competitively priced vis a vis the Kumhos. I didn't track 'em, but on the street they feel very hooked up, stiff, and direct. Sticky, too, I reckon, as they just about killed the tire smokin' fun I was having on the old Pirelli P-Zero Asimetricos! It's always unfair comparing old to new, but I've definitely had ****ty, new tires, such as the Dunlop SP 5000s I had on my Volvo 850 Turbo... lousy wet grip, and kinda light on dry grip when compared to the BFG Touring T/As they replaced.

Anders -
I wasn't there, but I think your tires were not really overheating. I have one of those infrared thermometers - not as good as a probe type that measures a bit below the surface, but for general purposes it's sufficient - and have seen tire (surface) temps of 60-70 °C. That hurts when you leave your hand on for a few seconds. Nothing to worry about, tires are designed for that.
I would define overheating as bubbles, delamination of tread etc. As in real visible damage.
Oh, btw, and I know no one gives a ****, but the SO3 is not a factory recommended fitment for the 928... the SO2 is. Works for me.
