Doing alot of under the fender work. I'm trying to get the upper A arm free, so as to replace the upper ball joint boot and to be able to move the upper A arm for shock removal. The upper ball joint bolt just spins free with ball. It's about 1/2 way off. Any ideas, don't want to go thrashing around in there.
Rez - You need to put a load on it. Try CAREFULLY using a floor jack somewhere under the front suspension and jack it up some to "load" it. IIRC - last time I did it - I put a block of wood between the jack and the alignment bolt concentrics/lower ball joint and jacked it up a bit.
Rez,
I had the same thing happen when I was trying to tighten it. I ended up leveraging and standing on a crowbar, which forces the ball joint down into the A arm and having the wifey snug the bolt. You will pretty much have to the same only someone will be loosening. It was very frustrating
