I need factory front springs

Justin:
I have a set that came off my '82 with the Competition package (Bilstein Sport shocks with non-adjustable perches). I also have a pair of '95 GTS springs which, I believe, were mated with Boge shocks with adjustable perches. I don't know if either will work on your car, but both sets are available if you're interested.

If you are tuning the front of your '80, get a set of adjustable perches if you haven't already done so - especially with used springs from another model year: you need to be able to set the heights correctly ....
I have '85S springs and adj. perches over Konis in my '80 ...

Hi Justin,
Make sure you get the correct springs you need. For example if you are going to add height adjusters you will need springs from an 85 and later (some late 84s also) . If you do not plan to add the height adjusters you need to find springs from an 83 and earlier.
The reason is that the height adjuster hardware adds approx 1" of height to the assembled coilover even at it's lowest adjustment point. Hence 928s without height adjusters have taller springs and those with adjusters have shorter springs. If you put on "late" springs without adjusters you will lower your 928 (most say too low), AND if you put on "early" springs" with height adjusters it will sit too high.

I have the same dilemma on my '79.
DR - can I install any matched set of coilover with original adjusters - i.e. will a complete adjustable coilover from an '84 - 94 work on my '79? (I believe '84 was the first year with front height adjusters?)

FWIW, I have a set of coilovers from my 86.5 languishing in my garage. I will entertain offers.

Yes, the coilovers are all interchangable, the early 84s are non adjustable on the front, the adjusters started in 84 with VIN# 60322 US and VIN# 40219 Euro and Vin# 49567 Japan

DR, question:
My '85 Euro sits VERY low. Too low for me. So I need to adjust her ride height. But ... she has adjustable Koni Reds up front with NO adjustable perches, and yellow shocks (assuming Koni) in the rear. First, what can I do here, I do have some suspension parts, like a dead suspension from an '85 (not sport) spare. Can I add adjustable perches? Also, does this shock setup sound like aftermarket? Why the heck would they have gone with nonadjustable perches?
All the best
Heinrich

Heinrich,
Are you sure your 85 doesn't have front adjusters? I am not doubting you, but I have mechanics argue with me all the time saying there are no front adjusters on late model 928s. The fronts are not as obvious as the rears, they are sort of "tucked" under the lower spring plate a little and are not as visible, hence the issue.
If yours for sure doesn't have them, then yes adding adjusters will raise you up approx 1/2" to 1" from where you are now, even at the lowest adjustment of the adjusters. You can then raise it up even farther if desired.
Any of the adjuster hardware found on factory Boges or Konis will fit the shocks you have. One tip, the Koni shock body is smaller in diameter than the Boge shocks that the adjuster sleeve was designed for and if you don't secure the sleeve on the Koni shock it will possibly just spin on the shock when you try to adjust the height. You can use any type of adhesive, all it needs it s a little extra friction to keep the sleeve from spinning during adjustment.
Hope that helps,

THat is WONDERFUL news Brother ... thanks. In answer, I have here my white monster, the S4, uo in the air awaiting its engine, and it had mammoth front sport shock adjusters, with cutouts in them, which clearly are adjustable, riding in threads. The Euro ... it has these silly little rings under the springs, and no threads. Red, and "Koni Holland" on them.
