Certificate of destruction , non recoverable salvage in California the "car " can not be rebuilt and title can only transfer once presumably to a metal recovery yard.

What a shame. I don't see how a car in that condition would be denied a title. That thing looks pretty good to me. I wonder if it runs and drives ok. I think it would be a good investment if it could be registered in another state and sold with a good title. Or kept by the buyer and enjoyed. Maybe I'll check the NV laws on such matters!

I spoke to the guy who is selling the car, he works on and drives 911s and 928s
apparently the "elderly" driver brought it with him to Fla when he retired and rear ended someone
took the insurance check and rebuilt the car not knowing it couldn't be put back on the street
guy says you'd never know it was wrecked, drives perfect.. still registered until end of the month
owner decided to bite the bullet and have him sell it for whatever he can get
NO RESERVE
if it wasn't this perfect I'd buy it and swap the interior into another car but this is just too perfect a car to have it get parted out

What's to prevent someone from buying it, driving it to another state, and registering it? If I remember correctly, when I registered my car which was bought in Florida, all I had to show was a current registration and a safety inspection.

I was thinking along Ernie's lines, but a little more long-distance... WHy not export it to a country where it does not matter?

from previous threads on this same issue, I think we came up with Washington and Oklahoma as the only states it could be retitled, overseas I have no idea..

Let me rephrase the question. How would a state DMV know about the certificate of destruction? Do they search the VIN in some data base? If it's legal in Oklahoma and not in Texas does that mean that it can't be registered in Texas after it's been legally registered in Oklahoma?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Hummmmmm - I'm pretty sure sanctuary could be offered here: COD is still a fish in these parts, and there is little else of legal consquence in the pathway of salvation...

I live in washington, if anyone wants, they can put me as the buyer with my info, and I'll transfer title after its made clear in WA (upon inspection by the state patrol) back into their name if anyone wants. Just as a favor, wouldn't require hardly any work from me, but I would like to see that car on the road, and I'll help out any way I can.

After the hurricanes of '04, there are a BUNCH of COD cars around here. Many have SALT WATER intrusion, but show little/no signs of damage, but are time-bombs!

Default Was a Minor collision, No salt water damage on this one!

Accident was late 2003, car has been on the road since...the fender, bumper cover, lights in bumper and a few other pieces up there were replaced...there was no structural damage
