Manual wooden shift knob?

Manual wooden shift ****?
I have noticed a wooden shift **** in some of the late model GTS's for sale on Ebay lately.
Does anyone sell these? I think that would look very nice on my black interior.
I looked on 928gt.com and saw only the leather replacement *****. What is the difference between OEM and the cheaper ones? Anyone seen both?
regards,
Sab.

Hi Sab,
The Real Root Wood 5-Speed Shift **** part numbers are no longer listed in Porsche's Parts List. They list one for the 968 which might fit with a little tweaking.
The Factory Original Auto Shift ***** in Light and Dark Real Root wood are still listed, ironically they are about the same price as the factory original leather Auto *****. (Approx $250ish)
And they also still list the real Root Wood and leather Steering wheels, shows to be available in Light and Dark Root Wood and leather, in most all later year leather colors. The Price is Approx $1000.
I haven't ordered either one in a while to see if they still have any left, but if someone is game to try and order one I will try and get it. Doesn't cost you anything if they come back with the dreaded "NLA" (No Longer Available), but it it comes in it's yours :-)
If you get a chance check out Tom Falkenberg's 90GT it has the FULL Porsche Factory Original REAL Root Wood option and it is a sight to see. I am not a wood fan, BUT Tom's GT looks very nice and is impressive! On top of that it is THE most optioned 928 I have ever seen, NICE!

Hi Sab,
>what is the difference between the two different leather shift ***** you list for the GT (besides >$200 in price..).
Visually they are identical. The Porsche one is a little higher quality and includes the shift pattern insert (the only way you can get a new original insert). I have one of each type in my 2 928s and quite frankly after they are installed it is a little hard to tell the difference. The biggest negative on the aftermarket version is that it is a little harder to get the shift pattern insert in all the way, but with a little massaging of the leather (sounds kinky, eh :-) it fits fine.

Oh, forgot to mention we now have aftermarket black shift pattern inserts that look identical to the factory insert AND they actually fit the aftermarket **** better than the original does.
I don't think I have them on the website yet, but they are in stock and I will have them there before the weekend is gone.

>When I installed the boot I got from you guys (Alan Gunn version) the insert popped right into place.
Most do, BUT I always try to tell everyone "worst case scenario" in my descriptions.
