I have the exact same steering wheel and shifter as Big Dave and I think it works well together in updating the car. I really like the Jaeger shifters except for the shift button on top. On the Momo, it's integrated into the shifter so it doesn't stand out. The leather boot makes a huge difference in how the center console looks. My old shift indicator had a lot of crud wedged in there that I just couldn't clean.

Don't pay any attention to the peel and stick "Wooders", their just reliving the old beach days of dreaming about owning a "Woody" :-)

Seriously, every one has their own taste, if they didn't all of the 928s would look a like and that would be pretty boring. However I am with you, a modern sports car should have leather, aluminum, and/or Carbon Fiber. I lived the days of Sports cars that had real Wood dashboards and I am still trying to get the stains out of my hands from refinishing the solid 5/8" thick REAL Burled Walnut Dashboard panel in my old Sunbeam Tiger back in high school...
Aha!! Sunbeam Tiger. I knew some of us had arrived at the 928 having lived with various V8 sports cars that were just training platforms for our beloved beasts. My dad had a couple Tigers, then we moved on to small chevys in a 240Z. Last iteration was a 400 ci small block, turbo 350 trans. What an animal, but oh, so unrefined. The 928 is the factory version of what we were building in our garages with all the refinement one expects from Porsche.

Thanks for sharing that tidbit DR.

It was also good training for cramped engine compartments! The 928 engine bay is roomy compared to the Tiger. One of the things I remember most is to change the rear spark plug on the drivers side you removed a rubber grommet from INSIDE the car under the dash and stuck a long extension thru the firewall to remove that plug! How many cars do you know that you change the spark plug from the drivers seat :-)

Still miss that car today, even thou that was almost 30 years ago.

Here's another nice shift **** but it's also like $180. I got the Momo installed, just not sure about the chrome top. But for now it stays.... Looking forward to the 930S steering wheel and the aero mirrors.
