Hey Ken,

Is the LSD same as an M 220..? In other words, will it fit in a later Diff..? If so, and it works well, I will be in line for one..

Can you find out...? I'll call Jim B...as well...

Thanks,

Hi Ken,

Tom at 928 said not the same, so unless I can confirm otherwise, I will have to pass....

Hey, whats the story with the hood, I see pickup only, where are you located?

Would love to be able to take it off your hands even if shipping adds 50% plus the shipping cost.

Thanks

blau928,

Yes, they are the 220 option.

Supposedly the early ones are shorter by 4mm or so. It may be possible to have a spacer made between the ring gear and the LSD.

I really wanted to have the LSD, but my automatic shows no sign of dying, so I have no good reason to rebuild it (knock on wood) and install the LSD.
...

truvkngfan,

I'm in Portland, Oregon 97215.

I'm afraid that it would be damaged in shipping. If it doesn't sell locally, then perhaps I can make a box for it, for you.

Ahhhhhhhhh...! Ok, Ok, time to patiently check into things..!

There is a difference in the offset mating surface for the ring gear (about 4mm) but you could make just one and have a spacer to make it work for both aplications.
Also the earlier LSD uses more friction plates than the later.

Umm.... you've got a long way to go on parts justification management my friend. This is a training issue. You _are_ going to need some of those parts at some point in the future. But you don't know which part so it's more efficient to keep them all because you're going to take a bath if you have to actually _purchase_ said part at a later date. These beasts are appreciating at an alarming rate and the longer we hang on to these gems.... the better. Practice in front of a mirror until you've secured alternate financing for the next (always say next, not other...) 928.

I'd buy the lot but my garage is already full of the same stuff.

Ken,

Let me see how difficult the spacer is to make... this is interesting, and I may be doing just that if it turns out that it is not very difficult..

Thanks for the tip,

LOL, Ken my better half told me the same thing not to long ago. Now many parts and one car lighter, life seems to be much better.
