I got a set of cup rims from a 1995 996. The rears are 9 inches and the front are 7 inches. What size tires should I get for them? I was thinking either 215 or 225 for the front and 245 or 255 for the back. Should I go with the 45 or 50 profile? I know the 50 fills the wheel well a little more (height wise). Which way should I go??
If they are 17s, 225/45-17 front (215 is for a rear engine car) and 255/40 or 265/40-17 rear

Sorry to confuse: the approach of increasing wheel diameter 1" and simultaneously decreasing the tire aspect ratio one division will result in ~ same overall diameter - often cited as "Plus 1"
eg., 225/50 R16 to 225/45R17 to 225/40R18 can be considered 0 to +1 to +2. These tires fall within ~0.3" in overall diameter, matching the speedo gearing and fit for the car while the wheel diameter increases - at the decrease of aspect ratio ( tire sidewall height).
