Default Need Part Number

Can anyone save me from having to reload the PET programs by providing the part number to the triangle shaped deflectors that fit into the molding of the driver and passenger windows. I couldn't find them on 928 Int's site and would like to add them to my order.

Thanks,

Dennis

If you put the word "triangle " in the search feature it will bring them up but here is a link that should help,

Thanks Mark. Didn't try the "triangle" search. Could you add 4 to the order (572572) I placed yesterday?

They aren't symmetrical. It looks like left should be different than right.

John,

Need three but I've lost two in four years so a spare wouldn't hurt. Sharon is bugging me to take the euro out of mothballs. Actually I could use it right now. The alternator is out on the van, my charging system is acting up in the silver beast and the 931 is still waiting for a replacement hot pot for the turbo.

Brett,

The deflectors that are on (or were on) my 78's worked on either side. I did notice the square flange on the 928 Int picture but here's hoping it will work on both sides if turned 180.

How diffilcult is it to replace those "triangle" pieces. Does the trim have to be removed to replace? Thanks

The pieces on mine are identical on both sides, but look different -- on one, the long side of the triangle is up, and on the other the long side is down -- because they are asymmetrical. Functionally the same (I discovered the function when, at 120 MPH, I tried to close my driver's side window without one of the triangular doohickeys)

Who's Brett?

Mark,

Sorry for the name snafu. As John can attest, when you get old, short term memory is the second thing to go.

Dennis,
Now see here...

1. I thought you de-coked and fixed or replaced that that pesky windmill do-hicky.
2. Bad news, while the shape is symetrical, there is a short side to the triangle.
Furthermore, the single screw hole, molded in, right angle bracket is not, actually, a
right angle. Additionally, the shortside of the guide will be out 180 degrees when (attempting)
to swap sides. Something which, I believe, will become obvious, after a couple of hours, even to high dosage Geritol and Viagra users such as ... well... yourself.
IMO, they could work 180 out, but they were designed with the shape of the window/sill in mind and will pick-up and guide the glass either to early or late. This will probably crack the screw hole and re-introduce slop sooner rather than later. Of course, these are just the ramblings of youth -54- and should be taken with a grain of Lisinopril -at your age you gotta go easy on the salt , Piroxicam, or, both.
Glen,
Got hung up on a VW Bug issue so didn't do mine today -by the way, Dennis, thanks for the nudge-
Will try to do it tomorrow.
From the look of things if some of the seal has to be pulled it won't be much.
This might be one of those jobs where either you work on it for hours by yourself, or, do the job in 5 minutes with a helper.
I'll let you know...
BTW
Dennis,
What's the first thing to go?

Your money!!!!!!!! The kids and cars are still getting it.

Sent the turbo in to be checked due to a slight drag when rotating the turbines. When they opened it up they discovered the hot side pot was crystalized. Probably from the coking.

FYI, there is a left and right WIndow Vibration Brace (Triangle thingy)

Left is Part#928.537.341.02
Right is Part#928.537.342.02

Single Phillips head screw for each one , Part #900.144.008.02

Install is simple, roll down window, look up in "groove" for phillips head screw, remove broken base part that is usually still there. There is a notch in the rubber seal that should locate it properly, you will need to pull back the seal to one side(towards the "groove") and angle the new part in place.

Less than 5-10 seconds per side.

David,

Thanks for the information. I thought they just snapped in. Guess that's why they came out. I did check my acknowledgement and Mark is sending me 2 of each.

John,

Viagara? Is that the stuff that causes your hair to stand on end? Or is it a waterfall in Taxes?

Dennis
