Marc,

Yep, I even called you earlier today, but you were already on the phone.
I'll try again tomorrow.

Maybe the claim that cats ALWAYS reduce power is no more than an "old husbands tale"???

I forget whether it's Hooker or Holley, but one of them claims that their mufflers flow more than a straight pipe of the same diameter and length. Maybe Random Technologies figured out a way to do that with cats.

I still think they are a giant waste of money that cause more pollution by being used than not used. However, I may be moving to NY or NJ sometime this year so I'll probably be installing a set.

Cats contain heavy metals. Failed cats contain heavy metals and some very nasty nitrogen and sulfur compounds.

Also, haven't you read the new studies coming out of the EU? Air polution is good for the environment now. Really, I'm not making this up.

No, haven't read the latest studies from the EU. That's why I depend on your expert knowledge. Do you have any links to the studies or summaries of them?

george, im guessing youve got an RMB as well? if so then i know what you mean about LOUD!!!! i was driving my car like this for a couple of months and it was a lot of fun around town, especialy when driving past walls or an underpass - loved that sound. ive got a full 2.5" system now but its properly muffled... its better on longer journeys but dosent rip quite like before.

Reuter's Alertnet article:
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L12551308.htm

There was an EU study that I can't find right now. You can google "global dimming" and find a bunch of articles related to pollution not causing global warming, but possibly protecting us from it.

Question Hp and torque curves

I've been looking at a lot of dyno runs lately from all kinds of cars both street and race. All of the HP and TQ curves cross at 5250 rpm which I understood to be correct based on the underlying math. Unless I'm having a senior moment these do not.
Can someone help me understand?

Check out the scales for HP and Torque on each side of the dyno graph. In this case they are different, so the curves won't cross at 5250. If the scales matched, they would. I used to wonder about this as well.

Nick,

Yep, RMB and GT resonators, extremely loud. I might have to put
the stock rear muffler back on until I get something else figured out.

Ed,

The scales are different so they can be seen better on the screen.
It's a little confusing at first, but I've seen many other dyno reports/
screens do something similar.

George
Great results! Surprising to see the numbers go up after you put the high flow cats on? But it pretty much follows the psi/hp ratio! 120db is quite loud...above the limit for most race tracks? With that kind of whp you should be able to break 200 MPH now (or at least come close)
