Rheostat swap, power glitches.
Zack's White 81' -still unnamed- has really dim pod lighting.
While I haven't checked the obvious -bulbs- what light is there seems to be evenly spaced so I'm thinking of swapping the rheostat/dimmer out of the spare pod I purchased from Brendan C. a year or so ago.
Anyone know of compatability issues using a 79' (I think) rheostat on a 81' MY ?
Another electrical oddity on Zack's 81'...
I was ...ahem... test driving his sHARk while he was snowboarding in Colorado,
checking out the $45.00 front and rear alignment job, Honest!
Anyhow, on two different evenings whilst testing said sHARk, at reasonable if not exactly legal speeds, the after market radio/CD came on just like a radio alarm clock. The first time I just figured that the radio was on the whole time and I was in a bandwidth dead zone. The second time, test driving around
2:30 A.M. after the Friday night poker game with a bored County Sheriff in tow
the damned thing came on again real loud! While the face was lit up I know the **** was in the off position -it clicked-. We had gone thru the electrical system after his wreak back in March and accidentally, fixed the Factory Alarm -that we didn't know was there beforehand-, and have had no electrical issues other than the wretched, 928 battery drain malaise.
Pattycakes, on the other hand, has a kinky electrical gremlin similar to the recent post where one of the turnsignals started blinking...
I drove to work one morning turned off the lights and walked away ... then turned to look at her shiny hiney one last time ... ERK! ... the front right marker light was on.
Nothing else, just the front right marker?
I tried cycling the light switch several times and eventually the light went out.
My initial fix will be to replace the Light switch itself, on the way from 928 INTL,
I've gone thru her system front to back matched bulbs, new fuses, clean sockets for fuses/bulbs, all grounds, relays, replaced the LCU -twice-, cleaned all connectors. I've been thinking the voltage leaching could be the ignition or light switch so this will be an elimination of a possible bad switch. Will keep ya'll advised.
