That thing is too nice, and life is too short.

Very realistic pricing from an individual with those kind of miles.
Bare in mind that the prices I stated above were for a very nice 50,000 mile car from a private party. Prices go up dramatically for exceptional low mileage 5 speed cars............such as your re-aquisitioned '93.
Granted, Willhoit would need $75,000 for that car, but as I've mentioned to you before (with all due respect), your '93 is realistically worth between $40-$43K. It's a very nice car.
Now, for a very, very unrealistic price, I know of a one off, ocean green '93 GTS 5 speed with wimbledon green leather and matador red piping and 50,000 miles for sale for $96,000. Talk about UNREALISTIC, I think that more than qualifies! Here's the car:

Beautiful, yes, but $96,000? Maybe there's something "inside" of the piping that makes it worth $96K, but he never disclosed the contents to me.

This is the GTS where the interior doesn't match the exterior.

The 91 GT on Ebay has NO service records and Original Timing belt. Some of us will say thats fine, but most of us will say that probably needs to be done soon after buying just for peace of mine if nothing else, so that should reflect in his asking price which last year was around 30K. I think a well maintained car should have some service history and recent TB, to bring the highest resale value which in my mind for a 91 GT is 25-27k on the retail market w/50k miles more or less.

Anyway, I pursued that car for a little while, but found there to be no "real" negotiation on the price. I was thinking somewhere around $28,000 at the time, but I'm glad I never offered him that. With the prices in the crapper lately and from the looks of how its doing on Ebay right now, I would have taken a bath! Besides, that's just to much for that car anyway. I recently paid $23,500 for a '91 GT with only 24,000 miles on it. How could I ever justify paying more for the same car with more miles?
pewter, I would much rather have your car than his anyway. Yours has a proper service history like you said, and personally, I like your tan interior with red piping vs. the standard black. Also, I have found (from many personal experiences), that a 928 driven ever so often vs. hardly ever, is a much better car with less to fix in the long run. I'd take your 50,000 miles over his shotty serviced 29,000 miles anytime.

I actually talked to the owner and was preparing to make him a legitimate offer for around $32,000 when, I asked "you didn't put a sale price in your ad, what did you have in mind?" He replied very seriously, "yes, I did put in a price, and it's $96,000". I dropped the phone, fell down to one knee, felt faint and almost passed out before regrouping to say "thank you very much, I will give it some consideration".

It took the original owners YEARS to sell the car, I guess to this guy bought it. Based on his asking price, I now understand why he would buy it in the first place.

If Willhoit will buy it for say, $90,000, he could possibly turn it around for somewhere around $120,000, but that's about it!

Chuck,
I think that Low Miler is in the ball park on the price. I suspect that your car to the average buyer was worth about $35k. Now in the condition that yours is in and the information that you have on it feel free to ask whatever you want on it. Someone might pay $50k it really is nice. I know a little bit about the car and what it sold to you for..... from Adam. Seems like Low Miler is close even though I hate to admit it. Hell, I have a really nice 1989GT that I want too much money for as well.
Nice GTS

Like you, I have an opinion and I think you're wrong........

Besides, what does what I originally paid for the car have anything to do with what I'll sell it for now?
Hell, I could probably sell it to Willhoit or several other highline dealers I know for $40k+!
