I am having a bit of sluggish acceleration off the line with my 89' auto. Everything sounds good but it is obviously slower than my 87'. The previous owner told me that the hall sensor needed replacing as it retards ignition somewhat if not functioning properly. In the VAST amount of documentation that he gave me with the car, I found a receipt where the hall sensor had been replaced prior to his purchase in 2001 at 119,XXX miles. It is on 133,XXX now. Are there two hall sensors? Could this one have gone bad in that mileage/time frame? Any opinions or suggestions welcome. Thanks!

The hall sensor retards timing BUT also the two knock sensors if one fails retards timing. Also check for a stretched throttle cable not giving full throttle , flappy resonance flap not functioning. Mass air flow not working at 100% , full throttle switch not working. ......

Both knock sensors replaced at about the same time as the hall sensor. Flappy valve fixed by PO and Wally at last years SITM. I guess mass air flow is next on the list. Thanks Jim!
