Picked up my new 2000lb engine stand. $89.95.



Got four 4" 12mm x 1.5 mm bolts from a place nearby, too.

When I look in the garage and see my tools, the engine stand and the hoist, I feel like such a manly man.

 

I thought there shipping took a little long, but you're right, for the price you can't beat. Especially if they are tools you won't use that much.

I got a sand blasting cabinet w/ a light for $100. There's a store in town too for misc. small stuff.

 

I picked mine up at the local store. I get weak in the knees thinking about how much I could have spent there.

 

I live about 2 miles from a HF...Man, I LOVE that place! For the last 3 years, family members just get me gift certificates as X mas presents for HF. I have 4 gift cards sitting on my desk just screaming to be used!

Which means you're supporting China (including the political oppresison there) and the continuing loss of American manufactoring jobs.

Don't get me wrong, though. I loved shopping at HF when I was near one. I'm just bitter now that I've moved far away.

 

I don't want to turn this into a debate, but living in Detroit has exposed me to the fact that some American manufacturers have problems due to their own faults instead of global competition.

Use fish ... we're stuffing the coffers of those damn Alaskan *****
Use cheese ... supporting places that chop people up in their garden chippers

Use pork, we're eating lost Canadian girls
Use beef, we're supporting mad cow
Use Windows, we're supporting Microsoft and screwing poor Sun and Netscape
Use Porsches, we're evil speed demons who belong in jail
Use Pizza Hut we're supporting France
Using Walmart we're killing or hurting something

 

Maybe I can live on recycled cardboard and water ... oh crap, supporting deforestation and global warming

 

 

I gotta stay outta that place. If there is a tool that would be nice to have for very occasional use, HF is a good source. If it's a tool that is critical or expected heavy use, I tend to get the best I can afford.

I got an Allied stand nearly 20 years ago. The simple kind with only three wheels and easily disassembled for storage. It's about as flimsy as they make 'em. But over the years, I've used it for:

AMC 390 (complete, 3 times)
Marine Chevy 350 (with exh manifolds attached!)

Probably a few I forgot. I'd like the upgrade to the four-wheel setup, but the darned thing can handle whatever I seem to need, and it's storable. Great tool for the price.

Nah, I'm not from Iowa. I live in Gainesville. I work in the midwest (Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas).
