It seems too often someone is trying to cast shadows on others here on the Rennlist, in some cases this might be warranted, sometimes not. It maybe a good idea to preface some of these comments with disclaimers, so they aren’t misinterpreted.

I have what I consider a low miler (89 w/50+K), no way would I sell it for anything close to book. More like 5-8k over book maybe, but that just me. It's great that there are a few honest car dealers out there that are trying to hit the high marks with the 928 Porsche cars. In the end, it will prove to be a good thing for the whole 928 community.

Wilhoit does seem to "get" very clean cars, granted some come from ebay, just to be relisted a short time later with instant increased value, but hey the guy has to make a living & he does keep the value of GTS up high (where it should be!)...if people like him keep inflating 928 values then maybe the rest of us will see the value of our cars go up? (Ya right, but a guy can dream)

Car traders with a good reputation also often get cars offered to them by people who don't want the hassle of selling it themselves. Usually people who don't care about getting the last few bucks out of a sale.

It is amazing to me that people actually buy cars on Ebay sight unseen and really hard to believe some of those low mileage cars he has would be sold there. I can't bring myself to list older high mileage cars that way, and I could never buy one.

As evidenced by this car 94 GTS. I have been told the damage inflicted by the so called "minor accident" has been repaired rather poorly. I guess that's the reason there have been no takers at what appears to be a pretty reasonable price on the surface. Not all dealers are created equal. I have heard some really bad things about this particular dealer's history and some of the cars they have sold. Think a couple guys on this list can speak to their reputation.

Willhoit is an American business man with a good reputation among his REAL clients and I know him well enough to vouch for his ethics. You get what you pay for and his prices are just fine if people pay them.

.....What kind of idiot would do that to his reputation only to risk being exposed as a cheat after the type of success he has had?

......Speculation is everywhere!

The white 94 GTS you guys are refereing to was originally a Cleveland,OH car. I noticed this car on ebay this past summer being sold at a local dealership in Cleveland that I visit occasionally. Of course I rushed there the next day to see it. They were asking close to $60,000 at that time. As I walked closer to that car I started noticing lots of problems with the body. None of the panels fit, rust on the rear hatch, paint did not shine at all. rubber didn't fit anywhere. Even the salesman I knew very well told me "You don't want that car" The following day when I checked on Ebay and found it was sold, I looked at who bought it for that ridiculous price. It turned out it was Mike Willhoit who I talk to on occasion. Immediately before it was too late called him to let him know what I thought about the car knowing he did not come out to see it. He seemed shocked on the phone and he thanked me for the info and later backed out on the deal. Know I notice my buddies in St. Louis are offering it for sale at a much lower price. I suggest everyone stay away, and warn your friends.

Oh forgot to mention, The Red '91 GT on Ebay used to be a Willhoit car. I checked it out and its almost perfect. I was close to buying it until I bought my 94 GTS. At the time he would let it go for $30,000.00. I think a serious offer of $28,000.00 and he would let it go. He is a Docter in PA who owned lots of high end cars.

They have a Carfax link on their auction plus, their reputation is probably catching up with them when it comes to 928s.

Check out the 5 speed s4 on ebay that was worked on by Arlington Porsche. I drove from upstate NY to see it on Sunday And called Arlington Porsche, who said that it checked out. The owner is a guy named Ken who is fanatical about maintanence. I drove it and it was super tight in all respects. cosmetically superior as well, although I didn't like the wheels, too much bling. I would say worth the reserve. Check this one out!
