Tony,
Very, very nice! Glad to hear you got her back on the road. Any seat of the pants perception for change in power? Perhaps the alignment or breakin period... OR just maybe the snow drifts have kept you from opening her up yet! LOL!

PS - Loved your shot with all the snow in the earlier post... unbelievable, snow all the way south of Brownsville. Still hope to pay you a visit when we are in Holiday Beach. Just too busy w/moving to a new home and such. Haven't been down South in many months.

ATB,
Bill

I tried sanding mine with an electric hand sander to get all the sand/gravel pits out, but promptly burned up the sander. Guess it didn't like all that aluminum. I've polished a lot of items that way but nothing of that size. Tried painting them with engine paint but think they look cheesy. BTW mine had seams that were 1/4" by 1/8" in some areas. Think I'll try using my wifes porcelain doll buffer with some sanding wheels installed. Here's hoping she doesn't catch me. 8^)

Anthony,
Tis a far cry from what I saw at the Third Coast.
Good to see someone out there , now and again with a vision and the grunt to get it done.
Save that flick of the snow shark, what a hoot.
I'm going to have to track down that NEW glycol leak and start polishing things as well.
I've always admired Randy's intake/tubes but am to lazy to go steal them ... hummm ... you however, are a little closer
I bought a spare intake, tubes and AFM from Brendan C. a while back and am thinking of polishing one set and powdercoating the other set though selecting a color-combo is the main hold-up.
Again, great looking job.
I know I'll get flamed for this, but ...
There is a shop up here that does a front and rear alignment for -honest to God- 45 bucks!
I had mine done and Zack's 81' as well -due to his wreak- he ate up a set of tires (rear) in under 400 miles no problems since.

Anthony,

Great Job!

Any impressions on the power of the Euro Motor vs. the US stock powerplant?

Hey Chuck, yes there is quite a notable difference, especially in the mid to upper rpm's. The 3 speed auto and gearing just doesn't produce the torque, like, say my C4-Vette (auto). If I ever have to replace or rebuild the transmission (knock on wood), definately a 4 speed auto or maybe even a 5 speed would seriously be considered. John, you never know, I may just have to bring it to Midland for the alignment.

BTW, awhile back I asked if I could use the 79 US 4.5 distributor on the 80 4.7 Euro and recieved no reply's. While it did start, and run fairly well, I was unable to get the timing to 26 degrees before TDC @ 3000 rpm. I put the Euro distributor in and all is well.

Anthony, OK, that does it, now I gotta polish my intakes - what a great job on the whole bay! Is there any complication to removing and reinstalling the intakes?
At the risk of suggesting any additional gilding - my intakes -(Don't have my manual handy for terminology) but the scoops that sit just over the rad and are attached to the large tubes going back to the air box - most I've seen are rusted and \or paint cracked - I took mine out wire brushed them and sprayed them a bright red. They're small enuf that the red doesn't overpower yet they seem to add to the front of the bay.

Miss Deb, the intakes are probably one of the easiest R&R items on the engine for polishing. Randy's 79 is still the nicest engine/bay I've seen. Yes my air intakes are a bit rusty too. Now I will not rest easy till the're repainted. I don't know about red though, I will probably stay with black.
