I do think the 928 is a beautiful machine, but I'm more focused on
the functional then the aesthetic. So to all of you that have the pretty
cars, more power to you and keep up the good work.

That would be one heck of a limo, wouldn't it?

I'd LOVE to show up in this one at DEVEK days. Or Sharks in the Park. Or Sharktoberfest, Or wherever...

But since I don't play the lottery, there is little hope it will actually happen...

A thread started by a 944 owner - my other favourite car, and a good looking one too.

Trolling eh? .....

To me the most beautifulPorsche 928 I have ever seen is:
1978 - 1980 old buggar, all-original, no spoiler, like Chuck Z's
and
1980 - 1984 cars (and Euros till 1986), all original, with their wonderful perforated leather and full leather dashes
and
1985 and 1986 with the gorgeous engine and beefy intake and all that torque of 32V
and
1987 and 1988 with the older dash but S4 intake and even more power, and especially the very sexy tail lights
and
1989 - 1991 S4 with all the incredible refinement and creature comforts ... heated seats, memory, wood trim, gorgeous growl of the mid mufflers and design 90 or CS rims
and
1992 - 1995 GTS with their sleek, feminine curves and almost endless torque, and yet .... refined as a Rolls-Royce.

Then there are the Cabrios; Targas; Scissor or Wing doors; and Clockwork Orange; Jacquemond; B&B; Strosek etc.

THAT is the most beautiful car here.
Merry Christmas and happy trolling.

That's an interesting 928 you have there! I checked your pictures at http://www.ptkporsche.com/galeriafotomoje928a.htm and doubt that it is an '89, though. But I can't determine what it is, because:

- it has an interior color that was officially only available for '91 model year (starting summer of '90)
- it has the shift **** from the pre-'91 manuals
- it has design 90 wheels, whcih would point to at least a '90 GT, but it's badged an S4
- it has airbags which were not available for the '89 model year
- it appears to have the dual exhaust, which might be an upgrade, but is certainly not S4 standard
- it has a painted rear wing, which is either factory Exclusive program, or was done later.

It would be quite interesting to know the car's VIN number and option codes... Either way, it's beautiful. Keep it up!

Finally someone who maybe could give me the answer. I also was wondering why my car has so many parts from GT 928 not from S4. I'm shure that everything on this car is oryginal.
Maybe this could help:

Are you sure the window sticker you are showing there is the one for your car?

This window sticker is for a US model, which would have side marker lights between front bumper and front wheel, and between rear wheel and rear bumper - but not between front wheel and door. Someone might have added the latter to your car, to make it look more like a Euro model. Interesting....

Also, the one on the sticker was delivered with burgundy leather interior, and could not possibly have had the airbags (there were no airbags when burgundy interiors were available). The interior of your car comes out of a '91 model - classic grey was not available earlier. I doubt the airbags are connected and would actually work.

The wheels you have are not the forged S4 types, but the cast "Design 90" wheels, which are wider, I believe.

Please do confirm the VIN of your car - is it really what it says on the invoice? If it does, your car would be a highly modified US model.

Do you have any information on how it made its way to Poland?

'WPO---....KS86 ----' K = '89, '86' = US/Can body, and no 'ZZZ' following the'WPO' ....
This would seem to be a North American spec 1989 that had euro style side marker/turn signal lights later added to the front fenders ( behind the wheels) probably to comply with the euro registry criteria. The reverse happened for euro 'ZZZ' cars registered inthe USA, not in Canada.
The dual pipe muffler appeared in '88 on the CS/SE editions - the rest is perhaps to be determined; however, any beautiful car, like a woman, should retain an element of intrique. Maybe that is all you should know ....

I'm sure this sticker cames from my car. VIN on my car and VIN on that sticker are correctly the same. It cames to Poland in 1993 from New Jersey when it has 19000 miles.
It is no classic grey, it might looks like it on my pictures.
There is on that sticker that it has 245/45 R16 rear tires and it cames with design90 wheels not with forged wheels.
The second light on the fender between front wheel and doors it is euro spec turn signal which I have to had in Europe. But the fenders are oryginal. You can bought that fenders in official dealers for the US models with the marker light and the turn signal light.
I have full history of that car, the names of old owners, the bills, the service book, everthing.

Maybe you are right Garth S

This is interesting: old window sticker from Marshal Goldman Motor Sales from Ohio from '93.

Hmmm... what makes you think your interior is NOT classic grey?

All documentation you have provided so far says the interior once was burgundy. We can see from the pictures that that's not the case.

The only grey dashboard that was ever made for the 928 with airbags was classic grey. Yours does not look like it is covered with leather, so what else would it be?

In fact, the color just looks like my interior...

I conclude that someone installed an interior from a newer car into yours. That newer car must have been a '91 model or later. Again, I doubt they were able to make the airbags work - that would be an enormous undertaking.

There is nothing wrong with this - I'm just saying, the interior is not the original one. That does not make your car less beautiful.
